Lowfield B, East Bank

FLUOR

Sound you can see.

Three nights of electronic music in the turbine hall of a power station that switched off in 2012.

  • Chartreuse is the type
  • Magenta is your cursorMagenta is your finger
  • Cyan is the kick, 124 BPM
01The idea

Lowfield B made electricity for sixty-one years. It shut down in 2012. For three nights in November it makes noise instead.

In the Turbine Hall, a forty-metre tank of fluorescent ink runs the length of the north wall under UV light, with the sub-bass bolted to its frame. Every kick moves the ink. You see the sound a moment before you feel it.

This page is a model of that tank. Stir it.
